The 40th anniversary commemoration conference of the establishment of China Steel Construction Society (CSCS) and the 2024 China Steel Structure Conference were held in Beijing on October 22nd, 2024.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Li Qingwei, Secretary General of CSCS. Academician Yue Qingrui, the president of CSCS, delivered an important speech. He deeply reviewed the glorious history of CSCS over the past 40 years and pointed out the direction for the future development of the industry.

Chen Zhengqing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor of Hunan University, Xia Nong, the vice president of China Iron and Steel Association and the former first level inspector of the National Development and Reform Commission, Jing Wan, the vice president of the China Construction Industry Association, Wang Hong, the former chairman of the China Construction Science and Industry Corporation LTD., and Liu Jun, the president of the fifth Council of CSCS, delivered warm speeches respectively, congratulating CSCS on its achievements in the past 40 years.

The conference commended the collectives and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to China's steel structure industry. Four experts, including Professor Zhao Yucheng from China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., LTD, Professor Chen Luru from Central Research Institute Building and Construction Co., LTD MCC Group, Academician Zhou Xuhong from Chongqing University, and Academician Nie Jianguo from Tsinghua University, were honored with the "Highest Achievement Award of CSCS".

The launching ceremony of the Steel Structure 2035 Action Plan was held during the conference. This action plan addresses the relevant issues faced by China's steel structure industry, combined with the "14th Five Year Plan and 2035 Vision Goals for China's Steel Structure Industry", relying on CSCS as an organizational platform to safeguard the high-quality development of the steel structure industry and effectively ensure the smooth realization of the 2035 Vision Goals for the steel structure industry. Academicians Zhou Xuhong, Yue Qingrui, Mao Xinping, National Engineering Survey and Design Master Lou Yu, Yu Yinquan, and Wang Cuikun jointly launched the Steel Structure 2035 Action Plan.

The 8th Third Member Representative Conference and 2024 China Steel Structure Conference were successfully held on the afternoon of October 22nd, presided over by Liu Yi, Executive Vice President of CSCS. Academician Yue Qingrui, the president of CSCS, presented the 2024 work report, comprehensively summarizing the main achievements of the association over the past year and introducing the 2025 work plan. Li Qingwei, the Secretary General of CSCS, reported on the financial situation of the Association. A grand award ceremony for the Science and Technology Progress Award of CSCS was held at the conference. Vice President Li Guoqiang announced the "2024 CSCS Science and Technology Award Notice". Academician Yue Qingrui, President of CSCS, Vice President of CSCS, and guest representatives presented awards to the award-winning units.

At the book release ceremony, CSCS solemnly launched five translated books, including the "Application Guide for steel in Steel Structures ", "Technical Specification for Steel Plate Exterior Walls", "Technical Specification for Steel Plate Roofs", "Design, Construction and Maintenance Manual for Steel Plate Roofs and Exterior Walls", "Beginner and Advanced Introduction to Metal Roofs and Exterior Walls", and "European Construction Standards for Steel and Aluminum Structures". Chai Chang, Li Zhiming, and Wu Yaohua, three new book authors, introduced relevant content to the guests and representatives present at the event.

Professor Zhang Ailin from Beijing University of Technology presided over the academic exchange session. The conference specially invited Academician Zhou Xuhong from the Chinese Academy of Engineering to give a report titled "Analysis of Wind Tower Structural Accidents", and Professor Shi Gang from Tsinghua University to give a report titled "Research Progress, Standard Compilation, and Engineering Application of High Strength Steel Structures".

"2024 Higher Education Steel Structure Innovation Competition" and "2024 Steel Structure New Technology, New Materials, and New Product Exchange Conference" were held during the conference.
